Jewellery billing

Organizations of type Jewellery get weight-based pricing, daily metal rates and hallmark details on top of everything else.

On this page

  • What changes for a jewellery business
  • Daily metal rates
  • Jewellery lines on invoices and estimates

What changes for a jewellery business

  • New items and invoice lines start on jewellery pricing, in grams, with HSN 7113 and 3% GST.
  • Items can hold metal type, purity, karat, hallmark number, HUID, tag number, barcode and default weights.
  • Today's metal rates show at the top of the app, and Settings gains a Jewellery tab.
  • Everything else (customers, receivables, expenses, reports) works the same as for any business.

The business type is chosen at sign-up and can't be changed later.

Daily metal rates

  1. 1Step 1: Each morning, an admin clicks the rates at the top of the app (or Update rates on a new invoice or estimate).
  2. 2Step 2: Type the day's per-gram rates for gold 24K, 22K and 18K, silver and platinum, and save. Saving unchanged rates confirms them for today.
  • Until the day's rates are confirmed, the top of the app shows Update today's rates and new invoices and estimates show a reminder.
  • On a new invoice or estimate, lines still at the old rate move to the new one.
  • Settings > Jewellery also sets which rate new lines use by default, and holds reusable making-charge templates.
  • Only admins can change rates and templates.

Jewellery lines on invoices and estimates

Each line is priced By weight or at a Flat rate. A By weight line groups its fields into:

GroupFields
MetalMetal, purity (with common suggestions), HUID and hallmark.
WeightGross weight less stone weight gives net weight. Net is worked out for you unless you type it.
ChargesWastage (VA) percent, and a making charge per piece or per gram.
  • The metal rate per gram goes in the Rate column. The line shows its working, for example 6.25 g × ₹13,775.00/g, then metal, wastage and making, and the amount before discount and GST.
  • Quantity applies to the metal value, wastage and making charges.
  • Picking a jewellery item fills the line from the item's defaults and today's rates.
  • The invoice's Metal rate today fills lines that have no rate, and prints beside the invoice date.
  • Printed invoices list each line's metal, purity, hallmark/HUID, weights, rate, wastage and making charge.
